changing our film title.(mariama)
DEMENTED VS THE UNKNOWN
We decided to change our film title from 'The demented' to the 'The Unknown', because found that their had already being a horror film called ' Demented' released in 1980,is about a woman who was gang-raped in a horse's stable, she is harassed many moons later by ghastly visions of her tormentors, while her husband philanders and every little thing frightens her out of her wits.
Due to copy write, we felt that changing changing the title of our film would be for the best.
We choose the film title 'the unknown' as it still worked with our synopsis about a craz school keeper, and as the students did not not know of his existants it worked well with calling teh film the unknown .

sfx-make up (mariama)
During one of our media lessons we had a special effects make up artist coming to tell us a bit about himself and the his works, on top off that thought us about how to use liquid latex to create realistic looking scaring or wounds such as bullet wounds, knife wounds , he also thought us how to make it seem that a needle or glass has gone through your hands. Although we had already decided that we was not going to use any latex, the hour was still a very interesting one

HOW WE USED FAKE BLOOD
We as a group decided we did not want to make our teaser trailer as grousome as others, we wanted to keep it quite simple, so we decided too use a limited amount of fake blood.

Ideas Behind Costumes
MORE ON WHY WE CHOOSE THE COSTUME
Considering our target audience we wanted to add realism to our trailer by clothing our actors in costumes that our audience could relate to. This will be successful in targeting our audience because they will feel that the actors are a representation of the society that our audience is familiar of.
The costumes used by our male and female actors should represent how their age group dress on a day to day basis in the urban area from 2008 to present. Stern Productions feels that this is essential part of the trailer that will contribute massively towards the success of the trailer.

Costumes Used (Joel)
Plain black primark t-shirts that give an close portrayal of how many young teenages dress on a daily basis. |
Combat jeans are worn by many young teenage girls and boys so this will be a good reflection of both genders in society. |
Our villian character (mariama)
Demented
CHARACTER PROFILE:
CHARACTER PROFILE:
Demented is anonymous man, who guards the college at night whilst going on a frantic, uncontrollable, enjoyable killing spree , punishing students such as bullies, as he himself was tormented by bullies as a child , he gets a thrill out of watching society's young wrong doers die . Demented moves quietly but quickly, strongly built, lurks in the shadows.
COSTUME: Demented dressers as one of the students, blacked out in a puffy jacket, and a ski mask, we got the idea of covering his face with something from the character profile of Hannibal. We thought the ski mask would give him an edge.
WEAPON: most contemporary horror villains tend to use, fearful weapons such as a chainsaw used by the Leather face in 'The Texas chainsaw massacer'. or the claws used by the character of Freddy Kruger 'In nightmare on elm street'.

Research on character and weapons (mariama)
CHARACTER PERSONALITY PROFILE
JIGSAW:We took a more closer look at the character of Jigsaw, and found that he was not pychically involved in the murders of his victims his methods of killing his victims we different for other phyichological horror chacters Jigsaw himself thoes not hold weapons unlike the charcter of jason in Friday the thirteen. Jigsaw methods would have been difficult to attempt to reconstruct and time consuming.
FREDDY KRUEGER: Krueger from the film 'nightmare on elm street' is an undead man, who can attack his victims from within their own dreams. He is commonly identified by his burned, disfigured face, red and dark green striped sweater, black top hat, and his trademark metal-clawed and brown leather glove.
HANNAIBAL LECTOR:Hannaibal from 'the film 'the silence of the lamb' is a brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer. He is described as being small and sleek, and with strength in his arms. Hannibal's weapon is his trademark teeths which he takes bites out of people with, so is seen wearing a dog mask to prevent him from biting.
Research storyline (mariama)
STORYLINE RESEARCH
We as a group went home and watched some psychological horror films, such as Halloween (2007), we paid attention to the storyline, In 'Saw 1and 2 ', 'Nightmare on elm street'we saw that most psychological horror follow a contempoary storyline of revenge. In Halloween Mike Myers aims to punish thoese who put him in the mental institutions whilst in Saw the charcter of Jigsaw aimed to punish thoese who do wrong in society.
We really liked the concept of punishing wrong doers in society but at the same time we wanted to combinded the concept of revenge. so combined both people seeking out revenge, and atempting to teach them that revenge is not the way, we felt as a group would be a good concept .Hinting as to why our storyline is about people seeking revenge for being kicked out of college and then getting punished for their wrong doings.
We also watched a comedy Horror called The Janitor (2003), which is about a janitor who faces daily disrespect and abuse from his co-workers so he sets of to kill them
Since we already had a school building, we thought of basing our storyline around the college.

Audience Research (mariama)
QUESTION 6,7,8,9 AND 10
|
|
|
We asked questions 6-9 because we wanted to see if our target audience is interested in watching Horror and what types of horror films they have seen. the results show that 16 people choose the horror genre as there favourite genre and 28 people enjoy watching horror movies. question 8 showed us that 13 people preferred psychological horror, that was very important as it allowed us to build our storyline based on our audience research. in question 9 we find that 29 out of the 40 audience members asked have watched the above horror films. |
