Horror genre Research (mariama)

                                         WHAT IS HORROR?

Horror is an ancient art form. Which tries  to scare people  with terrifying stories that allows their imagination to visually experience fear . From stories of the ancient world to modern urban myths, audiences willingly offer themselves up to sadistic storytellers to be scared out their wits.
Horror films serve a purposes to  deliver thrills as well as telling us stories of the dark, forbidden side of life such as death, serial killers, tales for grown ups est.  Horror tales/films also provide a revealing mirror image of the fears that people feared at their time for example in the 17th century many people feared witches, so tales of what witches would do to their enemies got around. whilst in the 20th - 21st century people have a great fear of  demented kilers  so it is to no surprise such film like 'A nightmare on elm street' 2010( took a worldwide gross of $116million) and 'Saw 2' 2004 (took a worldwide gross of $148million) have such a huge fear factor about them making them big sellers in the box office
Each generation gets the horror films it deserves, and as time goes on the more fascinating aspects of the study of the genre is the changing nature of the monsters who present a threat.
